ServiceSource Advocates for Full Spectrum of Employment Options for People with Disabilities on Capitol Hill
 

Alexandria, VA—ServiceSource President and CEO Janet Samuelson was one of eight panelists who participated in a roundtable discussion on The Future of Employment for People with the Most Significant Disabilities. The roundtable, moderated by United States Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), was organized by the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions in an effort to address the needs of workers and would-be workers with disabilities. Samuelson advocated for a full spectrum of opportunities for people with disabilities. Former Speaker of the House and General Chairman of American Solutions, Newt Gingrich, honored April Pinch Keeler as American Solution's 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year from Virginia at an awards dinner held at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, DC.

   

  
 

vaACCSES Annual Awards 2009
Recognizing Excellence in Service to People with Disabilities

vaACCSES is pleased to announce its award winners for 2009.  Award winners were recognized during an Awards Dinner held at the Collaborations Conference on October 5, 2009 in Virginia Beach.  Each year, VaACCSES recognizes outstanding staff from member organizations, community partners and employers for their professional efforts and dedication to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. Three types of awards are given:

Staff of Member Agencies: A minimum of three individuals statewide will be recognized for their dedication, innovation, flexibility, leadership and collaboration in the service of persons with disabilities.

Community Partner: A minimum of one individual or organization is recognized annually.  Criteria for this award includes fostering community inclusion of individuals living with disabilities, providing service to individuals with disabilities that has provided a benefit beyond the reason for the service or providing significant contributions to the lives of persons with disabilities in conjunction with one of our member agencies.

Employer: One or more Business, Corporation or Governmental Employer(s) will be recognized for their dedication to providing employment opportunities to individuals with a disability.
