The Virginia Association of Community Rehabilitation Program Dba vaACCSES hosted its Annual Legislative Reception on the evening of January 25, 2010 at Old City Hall in Richmond, Virginia. The event was held during the legislative session in Richmond.  Legislators and their staff as well as key administration decision-makers were invited to attend. Over thirty-four (34) Senators & Delegates as well as their Legislative Aides attended the reception. In addition, key decision-makers from the DMAS, DBHDS and DRS attended.  

During the day, VaACCSES members along with representatives from VRA and VA-APSE took the opportunity to meet with their legislators to ask for their support as they make difficult budget and policy decisions during this particularily tough session “This annual event is an opportunity to re-introduce legislators to the important work community providers do to meet the needs of Virginians with Disabilities,” said Bruce Patterson, VaACCSES President and ServiceSource Vice President and COO.

VaACCSES is an active statewide association of organizations that is committed to providing valued services to enhance the ability of member organizations to create quality employment, training, residential and community support options for Virginia’s citizens with disabilities.  

ServiceSource advocates (LtoR) Rachel Bobolia, Lauren Goldschmidt, Melissa Affrunti & Missy Crawford-Smith canvassed the General Assembly with over 40 personal visits to legislative offices during the day of this year's Legislation Reception.
